Perplexd ("we", "our", or "us") is a daily word puzzle game. You can play without providing personal information. This policy explains what information is stored on your device, what anonymous analytics we may send to our servers, and how you can control it.

What We Store on Your Device

Perplexd stores core game data locally in your browser (localStorage) so the game can remember your progress and preferences. This may include:

  • Puzzle completion status (e.g. whether today’s puzzle was solved)

  • Daily puzzle progress and results for sharing
  • Preferences (e.g. sound on/off, theme)

This local storage data stays on your device unless you clear your site data / browser storage.

Anonymous Gameplay Statistics (Telemetry)

To improve the game, we may send anonymous gameplay statistics to our server for aggregate analytics. This helps us understand usage, balance difficulty, improve puzzle quality, and fix bugs.

Examples of events we collect

  • Game mode and difficulty (e.g. Perplexd / LockCode; Easy/Medium/Hard)
  • Puzzle started/completed (yes/no), time taken, hints/attempts used
  • General interaction events (e.g. shuffle used, hint used)

How we keep telemetry anonymous

  • We do not ask for your name, email address, or other identifying information to play.
  • Telemetry uses an anonymous rotating identifier that changes regularly (typically daily) and is used only to count daily unique activity in aggregate.
  • Telemetry is not intended to identify you, and we do not sell personal data.

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

We may use analytics and advertising services to understand usage and to support the site. These providers may use cookies or similar technologies.

  • Clear local game data: You can reset local progress and preferences by clearing your browser’s site data for perplexd.com.

Data Retention

Local game data remains on your device until you clear it. Anonymous telemetry is used for aggregate analytics and retained only as long as needed for operational and improvement purposes.
